This week I got my hands on something different – a fully electric digger, the SY19E. It runs all day on a 22 kWh LFP battery, costs about the price of a mince pie to charge, and is whisper-quiet with no fumes. You can even use it indoors, and with far less maintenance than a diesel, it’s a no-brainer for job sites.
Best of all, it was ridiculously easy (and fun) to drive. Within minutes I was digging like a pro – or at least pretending to. The takeaway’s simple: just like cars, trucks, and buses, heavy gear is going electric. It’s cheaper, cleaner, and the future of construction.
