I’ve just been in Melbourne for the big reveal of the Cadillac Lyriq – Cadillac’s first shot back into the Aussie and Kiwi market. And let me tell you, this thing is unapologetically American: huge, flashy and about as subtle as a bald eagle eating a cheeseburger. We don’t know the exact New Zealand pricing yet (my guess, maybe around $120k), but we do know it packs a 102kWh battery, about 500km range, and 375kW of grunt that’ll get it to 100 in 4.6 seconds. Not bad for something the size of a small apartment block.
Inside, it’s dripping in Nappa leather, stuffed with tech like a 33-inch 9K screen, wireless charging, ventilated seats, and even vibrating butt cheeks to warn you about blind spots. It’s bold, it’s brash, and actually—dare I say—it looks bloody good. Think Mercedes EQ SUV, but with more personality and, well, better looking. I can’t wait to actually drive it and see if this American beast is as good on the road as it looks on the showroom floor. Watch this space….
