Green Gorilla: Taking out the trash (Cleanly)

Most rubbish stories start with my Tinder profile. This one starts at Green Gorilla, which is far more respectable. It’s a waste sorting facility packed with electric heavy machinery. And I mean proper gear. Battery powered front end loaders. Giant electric material handlers. Even the walking floor that shuffles rubbish along looks like something from a sci-fi movie. The best part is it all runs on clean power from Ecotricity. No diesel fumes. No roaring engines. Just quiet electric torque moving mountains of trash. The front end loader alone weighs more than 20 tonnes and still charges in about two hours on a 198kW charger. That would make some electric cars blush. The whole place even collects rainwater from the roof to run the site. In other words, it takes out the trash without trashing the planet. Not bad for a day surrounded by rubbish.
