The Omoda E5 lands in New Zealand for $48K with a 430 km range, 150 kW front-wheel drive, and a durable lithium battery backed by an 8-year warranty. Inside, it’s dark and moody, but the top-spec EX adds seated heats front and rear, mood lighting, and a sunroof. Storage is generous, with 380 L in the boot, 1,075 L with the seats down, and a full-size spare tire. Quick off the line (0–100 km/h in 7.6 s), the front wheels can struggle in the wet, but tech lovers will appreciate vehicle-to-load, wireless charging, a negative ion air filter, and dual 12.3-inch displays. It does have quirks—constant beeps, tricky menus, slow regen braking, and modest DC charging—but for value, gadgets, and Kiwi-family practicality, the E5 is a standout.
