Imagine an electric truck that can haul 40 tonnes and can swap its its 282 kwh battery in five minutes! That’s what the XCMG E700 electric tractor unit can do and it’s selling in New Zealand right now.
The vehicle has a six speed transmission and more torque than four Ferrari F430s, giving it a hauling range of around 200 kilometres per charge, depending on how large the load is. But what’s it like to actually drive? To find out, I hit Auckland’s motorway:
