MG Cyberster: First Look Review

Let’s be honest—there are plenty of ugly cars in the world. Things like the Fiat Multipla or the Nissan Juke exist… which makes this look like a visual detox. Behold the MG Cyberster: a two-seat electric convertible sports car, and frankly it’s hotter than a power drill on Facebook Marketplace.
Price is expected to land somewhere around $100k–$130k AUD (roughly $140k NZD), with about 444 km of range. This version uses two electric motors with 375 kW, sending power to all four wheels, which should launch it from 0–100 km/h in about 3.2 seconds—which is properly quick for something designed mainly to look cool outside a café.
Inside you get a futuristic cockpit with three driver-focused screens, graphics powered by the Unreal Engine, and a big “Super Sport” button that presumably makes everything louder, faster, and slightly more irresponsible.
The party trick though? Scissor doors and an electric soft top that folds in about 8 seconds—which is impressive when you remember older MG convertibles like the MG MGB could take roughly half an afternoon to put the roof down.
It’s not cheap, it’s not light, and it’s definitely a niche car… but it might just be the electric sports car people actually want.
