The Polestar 4 is a slightly odd electric SUV, mainly because it’s missing something most cars have… a rear window. Instead you get a camera and digital mirror, which feels strange at first but does make the back look properly sleek.
Price is about $120,000 in New Zealand, with up to 620 km of range from its 100 kWh battery. You can get a sensible single-motor version, or the dual-motor, which basically doubles the power and launches this unassuming SUV to 100 km/h in about 3.8 seconds—which is properly ridiculous.
Inside it’s peak Scandinavian minimalism: a 15-inch Android touchscreen, apps like Spotify and YouTube, a Harman Kardon sound system, and ambient lighting based on planets… because apparently your car now needs a solar system.It’s also over 2.3 tonnes, but clever air suspension and a long wheelbase hide the weight surprisingly well. So despite looking calm and sensible, the Polestar 4 is really just a very fast electric wolf in minimalist Swedish clothing
