Volvo EX30

The Volvo EX30 might be the coolest small EV to come out of Sweden since fermented fish in a can. It starts around $79,900 and claims up to 462 km of range from a 69 kWh battery. Power comes from a single 200 kW rear motor with 343 Nm. That’s enough for 0 to 100 km/h in about 5.3 seconds. Pretty spicy for what is basically a stylish little shopping trolley.

Inside it’s minimalist but clever. A big center screen runs Android Automotive with built-in apps and Google Maps. There’s a Harman Kardon soundbar across the dash. Seated heats are standard up front. Materials are heavily recycled too. Even the carpets come from old fishing nets.

The ride is a bit firm and rear legroom is tight. But around town it’s quick, fun, and very easy to live with. The dual motor version is even wilder with a 3.6 second sprint to 100.

Small EV. Big personality. And very Swedish.
